✨ New to NEA reporting? View How NEA Questions Data Flows into Reports to understand how this template supports FDR compliance.
🏗️ Step 1: Add the Page to Your Cycle
Go to the Grant Editor tab → Cycle Pages subtab.
Choose the specific Program and Cycle you are working on.
Scroll to Add New Page and select NEA Questions from the dropdown.
Check the boxes if this page should also appear in your Interim or Final Report.
Enter a title and set the sequence.
Click Add. The page will appear in your Table of Contents.
💡 Tip: Use this page in multiple forms to collect data at the right time—for example, estimates in the application and actuals in the final report.
✍️ Step 2: Configure Field Interaction (Toggles)
Click the blue ✏️ (pencil icon) next to the NEA Questions page.
Use the toggle settings to control how applicants interact with each field:
Display → Shows the field
Editable → Allows input or updates
Required → Must be completed before submission
You can also add custom guidance at the top to explain why this data is being collected.

This screen recording demonstrates how to add an "NEA Questions" page to a grant cycle within the GO Smart portal. The user selects a program and cycle, then adds the new page at the bottom of the list and titles it "NEA Page." After entering instructional text, the user toggles specific display and requirement settings for FEIN, DUNS, and expense fields within the Profile Data and Financial sections. Finally, the video shows a preview of the applicant's view, confirming that the new page and its configured fields appear correctly in the navigation.
⚠️ Alerts:
Questions on this page are system-defined and cannot be edited.
You can hide questions, but cannot add new ones to this template.
👀 What Applicants Will See
The page is organized into three sections:
Profile Data → Pulled from the applicant’s account (e.g., FEIN, UEI, DUNS)
Demographics → Standard NEA compliance questions
Financials → Grant requested, awarded, and spent
⚠️ Alert: The Grant Amount Awarded field is read-only for applicants and must be entered by an administrator in the Grant Manager Dashboard.
💡 Tip: If you are using the Project Budget page, totals for Expense, Income, and In-Kind will automatically populate here. Consider hiding duplicate “Actual Total” fields to avoid confusion.
🔗 Step 3: Link Data Across Forms (Optional)
If you use this page in multiple forms (e.g., application and final report), you can pre-populate responses.
In Grant Editor → Cycle Pages, check the Pre-populate? box on the later form.
Choose how data behaves:
Editable → Display Only → Applicants can view but not change earlier responses
Editable → Editable → Applicants can update values (e.g., estimates → actuals)
Note:
📝 The system always uses the most recent data provided when generating reports.
