An instructional video titled "Create, Use, and Save Custom Templates" by GO Smart. The video demonstrates how grant administrators can save time by creating reusable application page templates. It shows the process of saving an existing narrative page as a template, managing those templates in a dedicated "My Templates" library, and inserting a saved template into a new grant cycle. The video uses animations to highlight the benefits of templates in reducing the need to rebuild identical pages for multiple programs.
💾 Save a Page as a Template
Go to the Grant Editor tab → Cycle Pages subtab.
Select the Program and Cycle that contains the page to be templatized.
Click the blue ✏️ (pencil icon) to view the desired page.
Click the Create Template button (next to Preview Page).
Enter a unique name (up to 50 characters) in the Save Template pop-up modal.
Click the Save Template button.
💡 Tips:
Templates exist outside of specific cycles and can be edited at any time.
Changing a template won't update pages you’ve already placed in a grant; you must re-insert the template to see those changes.
Edits made to a page after it has been inserted will not affect the original template.
Custom Narrative and Custom Calculation templates can be put in the Interim and Final Reports. Intent to Apply pages can only be used as is.
🔨 Manage Saved Templates
Go to the Grant Editor tab → My Templates subtab.
View the table of all saved templates for the agency.
Perform the following actions from the table:
View: Click the eye icon 👁 to preview the template.
Edit: Click the pencil icon ✏️ to open the template in the page editor.
Delete: Click the trash bin icon 🗑 to delete the template permanently.
See Full List: Click See Full List to see every grant cycle currently using that template.
📌 Insert a Template into a Cycle
Go to Grant Editor tab → Cycle Pages subtab.
In the Add New Page area, pick a page Type (Intent to Apply, Narrative, or Calculation).
If saved templates of that type exist, a Template dropdown menu will appear.
Select the desired template from the Template dropdown.
Give the page a title (the system will use the template name by default).
Set the Sequence for the new page and click Add.
📝 Note: Once a template is added, it becomes a regular page that you can edit without changing the original master copy.
⚠️ Alert: While templates save your questions and logic, you must manually check and fix the settings for Intent to Apply pages every time you insert them.
